You should join the Ferret Mailing List in order to follow discussions and ask questions. Join by sending a message to ferret-request@cunyvm.cuny.edu and simply ask to become a subscriber.
It's possible to search the Archives of the Ferret Mailing List.
You should also visit someone who has ferrets! It's not possible to find out what ferrets are like only by reading about them.
