Rustan was unique in that he actually choose me instead of
the other way round. I was really looking for one or maybe
two females, but he (and not any of the others, who apart
form Carmen were already sold) wanted to be with me from
the start when I visited the breeder and he was seven or eight
weeks old.

He could be quite destructive when he was young.
Much better at climbing than you thought most of the time,
but with the right motivation...
Often liked to go for really long walks and was a good
pathfinder through the dense vegetation. Even when he was
5 years old he easily walked 3 km from home and back.
Twice he became best-in-show at ferret shows.
At one of the shows, at Höör in 1996, he outclassed the
competition at agility: None of the others came close to
finishing the course in close to a minute, Rustan finished
the first 7 of 8 obstacles in 15 s and took about as long
to go through the final tunnel.
