BA-4B

A Swedish light aerobatic aircraft.

The origin of the BA-4B was the BA-4 Midget designed by Björn Andreasson and built in one example in 1944. It was made out of wood. The first engine was rated at 28 hp, but due to a too large propeller only gave 18 hp. Got a 40 hp engine in 1950.

BA-4B dates back to 1965 when the Swedish chapter of EAA was started and was Andreasson's suggestion for a suitable home built aircraft. It was to be made of metal and fitted with engines from 40 to 100 hp. (Today, one has a 180 hp engine.) The first flew in 1966, then with ailerons only on the lower wings.

SE-XCC is BA-4B c/n #3 and was built in 1971 and is today one of two flying in Sweden. Eight have been built in UK.
