On the Saturday the 20:th April, there was to be held a national show in Höör in southern Sweden. I didn't really think any of mine four ferrets would do well, but still I entered them all, just to keep numbers up.

A total of 32 Swedish males and 16 females were entered, in addition to half a dozen Norwegian ferrets who got to participate, but not compete.

In spite of ice still beeing present on the banks of the local creek, it would likely be too hot to drive more than 500 km with ferrets, so just in case we rented a 5 door Volvo 940 with air conditioning.

At one time, I planned to not bring all four, as Natasja didn't seem like she'd like to travel and compete. But then mother said she'd also come, so then we'd be three to keep them in check; So I brought them all.

I had taken both Thursday and Friday off, and taken them all for long walks, so they kept calm in the car during the trip south.

My parents stayed at a hotel, I and my ferrets got to stay with the president of the local chapter. I got to sleep on a thick, wide mattress in the living room (more luxurious than at home) with the transport cage with the ferrets next to me, with an open door. The ferrets in the family were shut in in three other rooms (one whole male, a female with 2 day old pups and two old (six and seven years) males).

Most of the time, they kept to the cage, but sometimes they went on trips around the premises. I think I slept through most of it, but I do know I didn't sleep when Natasja climbed to the top of a couch and stood on her rear legs judging the distance to the window sill some distance away. And a high window sill it was. I had to bring her down and firmly tell her she wasn't allowed to jump to it under any circumstances.
Intelligent as she is, she obeidiently went to the cage to sleep.
