So, what happened to the ear mites?
They died. Or at least most of them did.
A week after I gave the ferrets the last dose,
I cleaned their ears and since then they've
stayed clean.
How does Röskva get along with the others?
During the first part of March, "getting along"
was hardly what you could call it, "handling the
situation" was more like it. More than once a
week she'd take a terrible beating, especially from
Carmen. She still has lots of scars on her neck.
By the middle of March she'd gotten so far as to
be mostly left alone in "her" spot, next to my
desk and beside the plant table and buckets of
soil to play in.
"Mostly", that is. Surprise attacks could and did
happen, but mostly they weren't really physical,
Carmen and Roxane was pretty content with driving
her from it. Carmen most of all seems to think it's
important to show she's the boss when it comes to
matters like this.
By the end of March...
...the situation has changed a bit: Röskva now dares
go almost whereever she wants to, but not for very
long. Happily it's happened a few times that I've
found her in my bed in the early morning. This was
previously a place where there would've been a guaranteed
fight between her and Alison.
For some reason, if I
take them both outdoors at the same time, a fight
is ensured. I think this is worst for Alison, as she's
really disturbed by it and often starts to shake
when Röskva gets close. But on the other hand, now
in April, Röskva has started to gather courage
and frequently chases the others away, often after
fights which aren't quite as violent as they
sound. But the one she cannot chase away is Alison!
She just doesn't back off, even though she's a bit
smaller, only has one fang left and feels rather thin.
Alison is also the one who likes going out the
most. It's still far too cold to be comfortable and
only this morning we had lots of snow, after a couple
of days with mild spring weather. This is of course
natural since today we'll have a ferret outing in
Stockholm.
